Ohio State Defeats Michigan
Posted on Nov 17, 2007 under Sports |The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Michigan Wolverines today 14 -3, and have earned themselves a bid to this year’s Rose Bowl.
The seventh ranked buckeyes still hold onto slim hopes for a bid to the National Championship game, but several teams would above them would have to be upset - and it’s not very likely.
This marks the 6th win in 7 years for Ohio State over Michigan. This rivalry is touted as one of the biggest in college football - some say the biggest in all of sports. I grew up in both Michigan and Ohio - and I remember growing up there was no bigger game during the year for either team.
There’s a lot of speculation that Michigan’s head coach Lloyd Carr will be retiring after this year and will be announcing that in days. Though it’s only speculation - it seems that this is what most experts expect will happen. Carr led the Wolverines to a National Championship back in 1997, but suffered a big loss (some say one of the biggest in college football history) to Appalachian State this year, as well as a horrible record verses their biggest rivals - Ohio State.
This marks 3 Big Ten Championships in a row for Ohio State - the last 2 as solo champions of the Big Ten. This is the first time that has happened since 1954-55.
